France coach Felix Andre checks out his team against Trinidad and Tobago

Couva, Trinidad, July 15, 2017 – France coach Felix Andre was delighted that his team reached its objective of qualifying for the finals of Group 3 of the FIVB Women’s Grand Prix in Australia after beating Trinidad and Tobago 3-0 at the National Cycling Centre. With the win the French joined Hungary with 5-0 records and a guaranteed spot in the four-team finals in Australia later this month along with the hosts and one more qualifier.

French coach Felix Andre: Today we had a plan for the match and all the players executed it well. We played a much more focused and aggressive game and we can now be happy that we have secured our objective of getting to Australia.

Juliette Fidon, captain of France: We can be proud of our 5-0 record. We are one of two teams with perfect records and as a team we can be very happy that we obtained our goal.

Francisco Cruz, coach of Trinidad and Tobago: I am satisfied despite the loss. We knew it was going to very difficult for us against a team that competes in one of the toughest confederations, which is Europe. So we are taking each match at this level as a learning curve. Tonight, France had a lot of control with their serve and we did not pass the ball very well, so we have to work on our passes.

Renele Forde, captain of Trinidad and Tobago: Congratulations to France. They are a very solid team and they played a very smart game of volleyball. As a team, we needed to adjust to their tactics faster than we did and in the end it cost us.
