Apeldoorn.Japan coach Kumi Nakada: Netherlands have a very strong team, a lot of power. After two lost sets, we wanted to serve better and have a better block. That appeared to be the key to win this match.
Japan setter Koyomi Tominaga: Our coach and other staff members helped us and also on the court, we players shared more information about our opponents. That worked.
Netherlands coach Jamie Morrison: Japan started playing better, the couple of changes they made, improved their reception and blocking. Next weekend the pool in Russia waits. We are a little tired, but tomorrow a day off so everybody has the chance to reload again.
Netherlands captain Maret Balkestein: We controlled them the first two sets, but from set three, our side out did not work anymore. Japan anticipated well on our play, they adjusted their defence to our attacks.
