Venezuela see off Cameroun in straight sets

Yaoundé, Cameroon, Jul 8, 2017 – Hosts Cameroon were not match for Venezuela, who snatched a quick 3-0 (25-20, 25-22, 25-15) win on Saturday.

The visitors started the first set well, going 3-0 up. They were able to extend their advantage to five points by the second technical time-out and finished the opener at 25-20.

Venezuela showed no signs of stopping, winning the first four points of the second set. The hosts managed to come close at 8-6 for Venezuela, but their good run did not last as they found themselves six points behind by the second technical time-out. Despite Cameroon's best efforts the visiting team were able to control the situation and close out the set by 25-22.

The third set saw more of the same, as Venezuela jump 5-0 ahead at the start. This time Cameroon were not able to rally back and fell quickly to a ten-point deficit at 15-5. A few minutes later the match was over with the visitors taking the third set 25-15.

Luz Maguy Delfines Melendez was the top scorer for the winners with 12 points, while Christelle Tchoudjang Nana put 9 on the board for Cameroon.
