Akbas named to assist Japan women's volleyball team

Lausanne, Switzerland, March 23, 2017 - Former Turkish women's National Team coach Ferhat Akbas has been named as assistant coach of Japan, to help the hosts on their way to the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games.



The Istanbul-born 30-year-old has been coaching CSM Bucharest in the Romanian League and the European Challenge Cup this season. He will remain with CSM Bucharest during the club season.



Akbas took charge of the Turkish National Team in 2014, leading the side to gold medals at the European League of that year and at the Baku 2015 European Games.
