Kiraly anticipates more strong opposition in Kunshan


Press conference after the tough match between USA and Russia

Kunshan, China, July 7, 2017 – USA coach Karch Kiraly said his team did their best in their first FIVB Volleyball World Grand Prix 2017 match, in which they needed five sets to overcome Russia.

Karch Kiraly, coach of USA: "It is difficult to start the competition against a team like Russia and tomorrow against Italy. Our rivals are strong and we will do our best."

Carli Lloyd, captain of USA: "We had a lot to improve during the match, while Russia were trying to put pressure on us. This is a fun game and it is always good to win."

Vladimir Kuziutkin, coach of Russia: "This team is our national team and I have to say that I am not satisfied with their performance. But I am sure we gained some valuable experience with this match."

Irina Zaryazhko, captain of Russia: "I agree with my coach, but I think this match was very interesting and exciting. Although we made some mistakes during the match with USA, we will play better in our next match."
