Canada's best scorer Gray excited for the upcoming weekends

Alexa Gray ended an amazing performance on the first weekend

Neuquen, Argentina, July, 9, 2017 - Canada equaled their record number of wins in a single World Grand Prix campaign after two victories in Argentina with a fired-up Alexa Gray who scored 54 points.

Canada player Alexa Gray: It's definitely a new position for me, I
haven't played there in a while, but I wanted to help the team and I think we made a lot of improvements on this weekend. It's good to see that we can get better and if the teams needs me as opposite or outside hitter, I'm here for everything the coach wants. In the past four years we only won one match on each weekend, so this a huge record for team Canada. I'm so excited for the upcoming weekends, to keep rolling and growing.

Canada coach Marcelo Abbondanza: I think we still have some problems with the start of the matches, as it happened yesterday. Luckily today we changed and we started to play better. Alexa Gray is so important for this team because she's a very good player even if this is not her position. We ended a great weekend, is the first time we get two victories on the Grand Prix consecutively and that is one more step in our growing. I'm so happy for the girls.

Croatia coach Miroslav Aksentijevic: We were a little bit tired from yesterday's game. It's hard to recover, but we had a good start today with our service. Then, when they changed players in the second set, they started playing faster and we couldn't respond. We couldn't maintain our level, but its normal because of the age average. This was a great experience for our players, to play against good teams in front of a lot of people, so I'm satisfied with what I saw. We have to play better in the following weekends and I'm sure we will grow up every time.

Croatia player Nikolina Bozicevic: I thought after the first set that we will win, we didn't expect that and maybe we were a little bit scared. We're young and have a lot of potential, but not so many experience. Also we were very tired from yesterday's match, we played a very long and difficult match, maybe the combination of both things complicated it. As a team it was a very good experience to grow as better players and also people here were amazing, it was very nice to play in Argentina.
