Czech setter Vincourova: It was decided on the service.

Richmond, Canada, July 21, 2017 – The Czech Republic earned a 3-1 (25-23, 22-25, 25-19, 25-17) Group 2 win over Peru in the 2017 FIVB World Grand Prix at the Richmond Olympic Oval on Friday.

Zdenek Pommer, Coach of Czech Republic: In the second set, we didn’t play well. We had low energy, but after that, the rest of the match was really good for us. We had a really good service and we focused on the (Peru) players (Angela Leyva) and (Carla Rueda Cotito) and tried to slow them down and don’t let them play.

Pavla Vincourova, setter of Czech Republic: I think on this night, it was decided on the service. We made a lot of aces. When we pushed with the service, it was a difference. We had so many blocks as well and I think we played good volleyball today.

Luizomar De Moura, Coach of Peru: We had two good first sets. We were with them the whole time. Afterwards we lost concentration. Afterwards our reception was not the best. That definitely cost us the game.

Mirtha Uribe, Captain of Peru: It was a very rare game for us. There were many moments where we were ahead of the game, but our serve receive was not there for us. Their serve broke us tonight. It's very challenging to play European teams because of their height. Regardless, we need to overcome these challenges and continue working on our serve receive.
