Suwon, Korea, July 23rd, 2017 – Korea claims a perfect weekend after their third straight set victory, defetaing Poland 3-0 (25-23, 25-20, 25-22).
Kim Yeon Koung and Yang Hyo Jin showed amazing combination, with Kim scoring team high 18 points and Yang following with 11 points.
The first set was a very close game between the two teams, but Korea took the first set. Kim Yeon Koung scored most the most with 6 points with Kim Heejin supporting her with 5 points. Poland was in lead 8-4. Korea quickly caught up with blocking point, 11-11. Both teams made many service errors. Korea took the lead and widened the gap with Kim Heejin's serve winner and Park Jeongah's left attack, making the game 16-12. Kim Yeon Koung's powerful attack slammed into Poland's court. Kim Heejin's touch net error allowed Poland to tie the game, 21-21. But Kim's attack from the right and another blocking point by Korea allowed Korea to lead once again 23-21. Korea reached set point first and took the first set 25-23.
Korea also won the second set 25-20. Poland’s receivers faltered as Korea’s powerful serve slammed into their court. Yang Hyo Jin’s high blocks successfully stopped Poland’s attack and Korea led the game 19-15. Kim Yeon Koung’s witty faint attack succeeded two times in a row, and Korea widened the gap 20-16. The last point was scored by Poland made error in attack, and Korea took the set 25-20.
The third set was the tightest set until the very end of the game. Korea was in lead at the beginning, but successful attacks by Poland’s Patrycja Polak and Zuzanna Efimienko turned the game upside down with Poland leading, 22-21. Korea reached set point first with Hwang Minkyoung’s attack from the left. Hwang’s last attack succeeded and finished the game, 25-22.
