Chiclayo, Peru, July 09, 2017 - The Colombia team made history by securing their first win in Group 2 of the FIVB World Grand Prix with a surprise victory in straight sets over Puerto Rico 3-0 (25-16; 25-12; 26-24).
Antonio Rizola, Colombia coach: I congratulate Puerto Rico because they made a great game, but unlike the Pan American Cup today we played well tactically and very disciplined, that makes me very happy because we are growing every day. Before the game the girls were worried about facing such a strong opponent, today the joy is great because for the first time in history Colombia wins Puerto Rico in the FIVB Grand Prix.
María Alejandra Marín, captain of Colombia: We are very happy because for the first time in history we were able to beat Puerto Rico, we knew they played very fast and they defended a lot, but today we had a lot of tactical discipline.
