Varazdin, Croatia, July 21, 2017 – Despite the jetlag, Puerto Rico managed to show Bulgaria that they are the better team, according to coach Javier Caspar, who spoke after his team’s 3-1 victory over the southern European side in an FIVB Volleyball World Grand Prix 2017 fixture played in Croatia.

Javier Gaspar, coach of Puerto Rico: “We needed some time to get used to our opponent. We are still jet-lagged and needed some time to get up and going, but then my team showed that we were better than our opponents from Bulgaria. We could have finished the fourth set quicker, but fear crept into their heads. However, we were victorious in the end.”

Ivan Dimitrov, coach of Bulgaria: “We had a good start of the match, but then my team began to make technical mistakes, especially in serving. This is not the Bulgaria I coached today. We had a bad day and, if we continue to make mistakes like this, tomorrow in the match against the team of Croatia we will not win again.”
