Poland eye fourth 2017 win against Peru

 

Lausanne, Switzerland, July 13, 2017 - Poland look at remaining undefeated in the 2017 FIVB World Grand Prix when they face Peru in Ostrowiec Friday after am absolutely perfect opening weekend to the competition. The European side enjoy a 6-2 head-to-head record against the South Americans across all official competitions - including their last four encounters.

Head-to-Head
• Poland have won six of their eight encounters with Peru at world level, including each of their last four.
• They last met in the 2014 World Grand Prix. Poland triumphed in five sets.
• Peru's last major victory over Poland took place at the 1978 World Championship. The South Americans won in straight sets.

Poland
• Poland enjoyed the perfect opening weekend, claiming straight sets victories against Croatia, Canada and Argentina.
• The last team to win the first four matches in a World Grand Prix campaign without dropping a set was Netherlands in 2014.
• This marked the first time that Poland had won three successive World Grand Prix matches in straight sets.
• Poland have not won more than three in a row in the competition since 2013-2014, when they won five on the trot.

Peru
• Peru won two of their three matches in their opening weekend, winning against Puerto Rico and Colombia, before suffering defeat against Czech Republic.
• Peru have not suffered back-to-back defeats in the World Grand Prix since 2014.
• Peru have won nine of their last 11 in the World Grand Prix.
