Cameroon look for 2 out of 2 against Venezuela

 

Lausanne, Switzerland, July 8, 2017 - Cameroon host Venezuela Saturday in Yaounde as both teams play their second match in their debut season at the FIVB World Grand Prix. The home side celebrated their debut with a straight-set win Friday in the African derby against Algeria, but Venezuela fell to fellow-rookies France in five sets.

Head-to-Head
• Debutants Cameroon and Venezuela are meeting for the first time at the World Grand Prix.
• Cameroon lost both of their matches against South American sides at the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, 3-0 against Brazil and 3-2 to Argentina.
• Venezuela are meeting a team representing the African Volleyball Federation for the first time in a major tournament.

Cameroon
• Cameroon celebrated their World Grand Prix debut with a 3-0 victory over Algeria on Friday.
• The Cameroon side achieved this in front of a home crowd in Yaounde.

Venezuela
• On Friday, Venezuela were toppled 3-2 by France on their World Grand Prix debut.

• Venezuela led by one set twice in that match and were eventually overtaken, losing the fifth set by 15-10.
• Against France, Shirley Florian was Venezuela's leading points scorer on 15.
