Koslowski has a busy year ahead as Germany women's coach
Lausanne, Switzerland, January 23, 2017 – Felix Koslowski has been rewarded for his one-year tenure as caretaker coach for the German women’s team by being awarded the role on a full-time basis.
The 32-year-old has a busy year ahead including qualifications for the 2018 FIVB Volleyball Women's World Championship in Japan, the FIVB World Grand Prix and the European Championships. As well as his work with the national team he will continue as coach of SSC Palmberg Schwerin.
"I want to be a breath of fresh air,” Koslowski said. “I want to bring in my own views and move the team forward.
“The decision shows the federation’s confidence in me. I started coaching to earn some extra money but didn’t dream that I would one day end up as national team coach.”
Koslowski was well-known to the team even before his tenure as caretaker coach. He was involved with coaching German Federation teams since 2006 and worked under former coach Giovanni Guidetti for nine years.
Seven of his Palmberg Schwerin squad are also involved in the German national team set-up and he has contributed to the German coaching curriculum.
Germany will compete in the European World Championship Qualifier in Portugal from May 30-June 4 where they will take on the hosts, Estonia, Finland, France and Slovenia. The FIVB World Grand Prix follows from July 7-30 and then the European Championship will take place in Georgia and Azerbaijan from September 20-October 1.
“With Felix Koslowski we have a young German coach who knows the Bundesliga and the German players very well,” Germany Federation president Thomas Krohne said.
“He has developed excellently over the years with the national team and his coach stations, and we are convinced that we will go a successful way with him. I would like to thank the SSC Palmberg Schwerin and the entire Bundesliga, who have shown support for Felix and for the project.”
