Lausanne, Switzerland, July 16, 2017 - Mexico and Algeria come head-to-head Sunday in Caracas for the fifth time in FIVB World Grand Prix history. Mexico have won all four of their previous encounters, but are currently o a three-match losing streak after opening their 2017 campaign with two wins. Algeria are stil winless this season and on an 11-match losing streak overall.
Head-to-Head• Mexico have won each of their four previous meetings with Algeria at world level, all in the World Grand Prix.
• Algeria came closest to a victory in their 2015 meeting, when Mexico needed five sets for the win.
• Their most recent encounter came in last year's edition when Mexico won in straight sets.
Mexico• Mexico opened their World Grand Prix campaign with two 3-1 victories, which were followed by three defeats, all in straight sets.
• Mexico could lose four consecutive matches for the third time, after doing so once in 2015 and in 2016. These are their longest losing streaks in the competition.
• Against Venezuela, Dulce Carranza (14) and Andrea Maldonado (11) reached double figures in scoring for Mexico.
Algeria• Algeria are still in search of their first victory in the 2017 World Grand Prix.
• Since the start of the 2016 season (11 matches in total), all opponents managed to beat Algeria in straight sets. This came after a four match streak in which they took at least two sets per match, at the end of 2015.
• Eight different Algerian players contributed with at least one point in the 32-point scoring effort against Hungary on Saturday, with Celia Bourihane being the most prolific scorer with seven points.
