Venezuela's coach speaking in the press conference

Yaounde, Cameroon, July 9, 2017 – In the first meeting between the two teams, Venezuela defeated Algeria 3-0 (25-15, 25-17, 25-15) on Sunday.

Venezuela coach Ihosvanny Chambers:"We are happy to win the game, but we are not in first, the outcome of the Cameroon-France game would determine our position. We are behind France with three points. The competition is still open, we lost the first match but gradually my players have put up a good performance."

Venezuela player Marie Jose: "I feel happy, this is not my work alone, but teamwork. My teammates did a good job. We are focused for the next round because we have important matches at home in Venezuela and we are working already.”

Algeria coach Tennoun Nabil: "I have to be precise that our objective in this competition was not to get points but to prepare our young team. Our players needed this kind of competition to gain experience because it is not every day that we get such sparring partner. As for Abderrahim Yasmine who is our best spiker, we think she is gaining experience and also evaluating her capacity.”
