Overview

Team profile

Colombia participated in the FIVB World Grand Prix for the first time in 2015, immediately topping the Group 3 Intercontinental Round and claiming the Group bronze after losing to Peru in the semifinals and beating Australia in the third-place playoff. Last year Colombia finished third in the Intercontinental Round but lost both matches in the Group 3 finals to hosts Kazakhstan in the semifinals and to Peru in the bronze medal match – both in five sets.
Colombia have never qualified to either the FIVB World Championships or the Olympic Games, but have take part in several South American Championships – where they registered their top international successes of bronze in 1991 after edging Argentina in the deciding match, and again in 2015 when they beat Argentina 3-2 in the third-place playoff.
