Team profile

Germany

Germany were present at the inaugural FIVB World Grand Prix in 1993 and will be competing for the 18th time this year. They have twice won the bronze medal, in 2002 and 2009. They found themselves in Group 1 with the restructure of the competition in 2014, but last year finished winless in the Intercontinental Round and were relegated to Group 2 where they will be competing this year.
As East Germany they won a silver medal at the Moscow 1980 Olympic Games and were crowned European champions in 1983 and 1989. Since reunification Germany qualified to the Olympic Games three times, their best performance being 6th place in Sydney 2000. They have also won two bronze medals at the European Championships in 1991 and 1993, followed by two silver in 2011 and 2013. Their best finish as a united Germany in the FIVB World Championship was 5th in 1994.

Coach

Mr. Felix Koslowski

Mr. Felix Koslowski

Felix Koslowski is only 33 years old, but has been in business for a long time now. When it was predictable that he could not make it to the top as a player (2. Bundesliga), he decided early on to go for the coach's career. He benefited greatly from his mentor, ex- national coach Giovanni Guidetti, whom he assisted for many years in the national team.
His motto "Coming together is the beginning. Staying together is progress. Working together is success!" is the guiding principle for his work with the national team. For this year he wants to earn the ticket to the World Championship and play a good final round in the European Championship.
