San Juan, Puerto Rico, July 15, 2017 – After beating Canada 3-1 (15-25, 30-28, 31-29, 25-21) in a hard-fought game, Bulgaria captain Dobriana Rabadzhieva was proud of her team’s performance.
Bulgarian Captain Dobriana Rabadzhieva: I want to congratulate my team because they did a really good job after the first set when Canada pressured us a lot, and they came back in a very strong and good way, fighting. I’m so happy and proud of them because they kept fighting.
Bulgaria Coach Ivan Dimitrov: Yesterday, I spoke with the Canadian coach and we discussed it would be a very hard game because both teams played five-set games yesterday. I’m happy that we won today. This was a hard game because of the match we had yesterday. I’m hoping tomorrow we will be rested and feeling fresh for the game against Puerto Rico.
Canadian Captain Lucille Chaluk: I felt like at moments we played better than them and we kind of had them on their heels a little bit. It really came down to the game after 20; they just didn’t make any mistakes after 20 and we made our own errors and it cost us the sets.
