Bulgaria look for repeat of last year's win over Argentina

 

Lausanne, Switzerland, July 22, 2017 - Bulgaria and Argentina meet for the second time in FIVB World Grand Prix history Sunday in Varazdin, after last year's 3-1 win by the Europeans. Bulgaria can win back-to-back games for the second time this year and Argentina can win three in a row for the first time since 2015. Both sides are out of contention for the Final Four of Group 2.

Head-to-Head
• Bulgaria and Argentina have met once in the World Grand Prix. Last year, Bulgaria won 3-1.
• This was their only encounter in any major competition.
• Bulgaria have played one other match at the World Grand Prix against a CSV-side. In 2013, they defeated Brazil by 3-1.

Bulgaria
• Bulgaria can win consecutive matches for the second time this year. They started their World Grand Prix campaign with two wins, against Kazakhstan and Korea.
• With four wins in 2017, they are one win short of their five victories in 2016.
• Bulgaria could clinch two straight set wins in a row for the second time in their World Grand Prix history, after 3-0 wins against Cuba and Puerto Rico in 2013.
• Gergana Dimitrova has scored 101 points.

Argentina
• Argentina clinched their second consecutive victory in this year's World Grand Prix by beating Puerto Rico 3-0 on Saturday.
• They can now win three matches in a row for the first time since 2014-2015.
• The last time they won at least three matches in a single World Grand Prix was in 2014 (4).
• Emilce Sosa has scored 19 points from 63 block attempts.
