Coach Hong Sungjin: Teamwork was the key to success

Team Korea celebrate victory over Peru

Ostrowiec Świętokrzyski, Poland, July 15, 2017 - Korea claimed their second victory in Poland beating Peru 3-0 (26-24, 27-25, 25-15). Coach Hong Sungjin was satisfied with the teamwork of his players who were very motivated for this match.

Korea Captain Kim Yeon Koung: I think that Peru improved. They played very well, especially in defence and also in attack. We want to be better, expecialy in service. We need focus on receptions and services. The second set was the key to this match. Peru were one point away and after that we gave them chance to win, but in the end we kept more focus.

Korea coach Hong Sungjin: At the beginning we had problems in reception, so the first set was tough for us. But then our game was getting better and better and we were able to win this match. Our players started with a thought that we must win it, we were also well prepared for this match, because we analysed Peru’s game. We knew exactly how we should attack to score points. Our wing spiker, opposite spiker and middle-blockers cooperated very well today and it was the key to our success.

Peru captain Mirtha Uribe: Korea is a tough opponent for us, but in a little bit different way than Poland. They present quick and really complicated volleyball. We played well but then lost those two sets, and our concentration in the third one was just gone.

Peru Coach Luizomar de Moura: It is important for our team to play against top teams of the world volleyball, to play against players like Su Ji Kim. This time it was a really tough game and very equal, and matches of this kind are very important for us as a team. We have to work on concentration in the end of sets, because during this tournament we had several occasions to win sets and we didn’t manage to do it, so we have to work on it.
