Czech Republic captain Bednarova enjoys tough win over Puerto Rico

Chiclayo, Peru, July 08, 2017 - Czech Republic have secured their second successive victory in the FIVB World Grand Prix 2017, denying the power of Puerto Rico in their 3-1 (25-20, 26-28, 25-21, 25-18) win.

Pommer Zdenek, Czech Republic coach: "Today we had a complicated game where we needed all our concentration. We knew the strength of the Puerto Rico attack and so we adjusted our blockade, which leaves us many things to learn."

Karolina Bednárová, Czech Republic captain: "Puerto Rico showed an excellent game, we tried to improve the score by pressing the service to complicate its reception. It was not an easy victory but it was a very exciting game for us."

Javier Gaspar, Puerto Rico coach: "I congratulate the Czech Republic team because they played a very good game today. We had many faults in the service and inconsistency in our attack, so we had to keep the lead on the scoreboard. Unlike the Pan American Cup we have three new athletes and I think that's costing us the lack of game rhythm."

Natalia Valentín, Puerto Rico captain: "It was a complicated game, they had a good service and an attack was very fast. We did not know how to stop them."
