"It was very sad that the Venezuelan national side were forced to pull out of the Group 3 finals because of travel delays. Each athlete had worked so hard to qualify, and it was also a disappointment for the thousands of spectators in Canberra who were looking forward to seeing the Venezuelan team in action. However, I am sure you will all agree that the three remaining teams made it a great spectacle and congratulations to all who participated."
"The Group 1 finalists were also decided this weekend as hosts Brazil booked their place in Nanjing with a final-match victory over the USA, in front of more than 10,000 fans," added President Graça.
A total of 3,111 points were scored in Group 1 including the highest scoring set of the week, a 35-33 win for China over Japan.
"The six teams that have qualified for the Group 1 Finals in Nanjing are Serbia, USA, Brazil, Netherlands, Italy, and hosts China, and I wish every team the best of luck at the Finals next month."
Germany performed magnificently to extend their unbeaten run to eight games in Group 2, securing their place in the finals next weekend. They will join hosts Czech Republic, South Korea and Poland in a battle to become FIVB 2017 World Grand Prix Group 2 Champion.
"It was another wonderful weekend of volleyball and my thanks go to the host cities from Brazil, Thailand, Hong Kong, Korea, Croatia, Canada and Australia, for providing such a fantastic atmosphere."
