Szakmary sparks Hungary’s sweep of Venezuela

 

Greta Szakmary scored two aces in their win over Venezuela in the 2017 FIVB Volleyball World Grand Prix

Caracas, Venezuela, July 16, 2017 – Greta Szakmary sparked Hungary’s 3-0 (25-18, 25-19, 25-23) win over hosts Venezuela in Pool C3 of the 2017 FIVB Volleyball World Grand Prix at Domo Jose Maria Vargas on Sunday.

Szakmary recorded 12 attacks, three blocks and two aces for a top scoring night of 17 points. Bernadette Dekany and Edina Dobi chipped in 11 and 10 points, respectively, for Hungary. Maria Jose Perez Gonzalez led Venezuela with 14 markers.

Hungary finished pool play in Group 3 undefeated in their debut season. France are the only other undefeated side of the group. Hungary have won all of their six matches, where five came in straight sets and only one by a 3-1 scoreline. Hungary and Venezuela will move to the Group 3 Finals in Canberra with France and hosts Australia.
