We're just happy to get a victory: Cameroon coach

Cameroon coach Jean-Rene Akono imparts advice against Australia on Saturday

Couva, Trinidad, July 15, 2017 – Jean-Rene Akono, coach of Cameroon, said he was happy for his team to get a win over Australia on Saturday.

Jean-Rene Akono, coach of Cameroon: Today we are happy not because we played better than yesterday, but just because of the victory. We need to learn how to close out matches and continue to learn as a team. Our girls missed opportunities against Australia, but tonight we were a bit better in how we managed the sets.

Christelle Tchoudjang Nana, captain of Cameroon: We tried our best to limit our mistakes from the first match and in practice we also had to put more effort into concentrating on the game and we did that.

Shannon Winzer, coach of Australia: Our passing game totally broke down today. We started off well and won the first set, but then our passing was not at its best.

Beth Carey, captain of Australia: It’s a mental thing with our players. If we can play an entire match like how we did in the first set, then we will have better results.
