Salomoni will rely on his experience and continue the work started by his predecessor, Belgian coach Jan de Brandt.

“I would like to use my experience and knowledge to help the Hungarian national team to further develop and improve,” Salomoni said. “Former coach Jan de Brandt did an outstanding job with the team, as he introduced and helped Hungary to become a power player in Europe.”

“There is no need to implement major changes. We have to continue the work that paid off and brought success to the team. The most vital thing to do is to move forward step by step.”

Salomoni has the full support of the national federation.

“We were looking for an expert who is familiar with the Hungarian championship and the players, and someone who will be able to bring sufficient experience and innovation to the very colourful and intense year that lies ahead for the women’s national team,” president Dr. Ferenc Kovacs said.

“His contract is valid until the end of the national team’s season, but both parties have confirmed the plan to work together for a longer term.”

The fifty-year-old tactician previously worked for the German women’s national team, and coached clubs in the Italian and German leagues. He currently coaches Hungarian club MTK Budapest.
