USA players were able to celebrate their second win, after defeating Italy
Kunshan, China, July 8, 2017 – USA enjoyed their second FIVB World Grand Prix victory on Saturday when they defeated Italy 3-2 (22-25, 25-19, 25-27, 25-16, 15-11).
Carli Lloyd, USA captain: “Before the match, we knew that we needed to be patience because Italy is a great defensive team. I’m happy with my team that we did a good job. It’s always fun to play against Italy.”
Karch Kiraly, USA coach: “We know that Italy has a great volleyball system and they form a great national team. I’m proud of my team members that they did a great job to keep pushing them. We make things difficult for Italy. Glad to win the match.”
Mazzanti Davide, Italy coach: “First of all, congratulations to the USA. Today, the biggest problem for our team was experience. We shall work on team co-operation and then we will do a better job. We have a lot of work to do tonight.”
Cristina Chirichella, Italy captain: “We know that it will be a hard match. We should have had a little bit more pressure on the USA.”
