Natalia leads the way as Brazil outclass Serbia

Sendai, Japan, Jun 14, 2017 - Natalia Pereira scored 16 points in her team's straight-set win over Serbia on Friday.

Serbia's top scorer, Ana Bjelica, put 15 points on the board.

The match started off evenly-matched with neither team able to build a lead early-on. After the second technical time-out Serbia jumped ahead to 20-17 and maintained the lead until 23-20. It was not enough, however, as six points in a close succession, including two great blocks from Adenizia, handed the set to Brazil, 26-24.

In the second set Serbia found it difficult to recover from the disappointing finish of the opener. Brazil held a ten-point, 19-9, lead at one point, before snatching the set by 25 to 17. The third set was close again, with Serbia able to build a healthy advantage at 17-12. But just as they seemed poised to win the set, Brazil upped their service game and managed to go 20-19 up. There was no coming back from that for Serbia, as a Tandara spike handed the set to Brazil, 25-22.
