They showed they have their hearts in the right place - Koslowski

Germany's coach Koslowski emotional in the mixed zone

Ostrava, Czech Republic, July 30, 2017 – It was a very difficult match for the third place in Group 2 of the FIVB Volleyball World Grand Prix 2017, as both sides, Germany and the Czech Republic, admitted after the game.

Felix Koslowski, coach of Germany: "It was definitely not an easy match today after yesterday's tie-breaker loss, which also cost us a lot of energy. The temperature was also very high at this arena, so you could see some of the girls were really tired, but they showed they have their hearts in the right place, and even when everything did not go well, we managed to win the third place. I am very proud of my team. The girls deserved it!"

Denise Hanke, captain of Germany: "For sure we wanted to finish this tournament with a victory. It was super hard all four weeks. It was actually a real honour to play finals. Yesterday we were unlucky, but I think we did a good job today and we are happy with the third place."

Zdenek Pommer, coach of Czech Republic: "Today we showed a good performance with a lot of fight. It is a shame it was not enough, but our opponents were simply better at reception. On the other hand, we played two really good sets up to the end, when we lost only by two points. Overall we played a good match today. I have to highlight the performance of Marie Toufarova, who played a great game tonight. Unfortunately, in the most important moments Germany pushed us with their strong firm serves."

Barbora Purchartova, player of Czech Republic: "I personally think the match was very close and tight and it was about the final stages of each set, except for set 2, when we outplayed Germany with a big margin. Before the match we were preparing a lot how to defend against Germany’s best player Louisa Lippmann, but during the match we were not able to manage that."
