Brayelin Elizabeth Martinez did not hold back in the
Dominican Republic’s last match of the FIVB Volleyball World Grand Prix 2017 tournament in Apeldoorn and helped her team to their second victory in the Netherlands this weekend. On Sunday evening, the Caribbean squad mastered a 3-1 (25-22, 22-25, 25-22, 25-18) victory over still winless
Thailand. With this win, the Dominicans tied their head-to-head World Grand Prix record with the Thais at two each.
Martinez was on fire throughout the match and contributed 21 points to the victory. Her teammate
Annerys Victoria Vargas Valdez was particularly valuable in the key moments of the match, as she also hammered out 21 points, including five of her squad's 15 kill blocks.
Hattaya Bamrungsuk was Thailand’s best scorer with 18 points.
