Netherlands overplayed Belgium in three sets in Kaliningrad 3-0.
Kaliningrad, Russia, Jun 14, 2017 – The Netherland’s captain Maret Balkestein-Grothues believes block was key in her team’s straight-set win over Belgium on Friday.
Netherlands coach Jamie Morrison: We made mistakes in service and reception, others aspects were good. We will have to work harder to struggle with Dominican Republic tomorrow, they are very strong.
Netherlands captain Maret Balkestein-Grothues: It wasn’t a good game, we made a lot of mistakes, especially at the reception. It was difficult to play, but our block was rather stable, I think we won because of that.
Belgium coach Gert Vande Broek: That was the worst game we played at the Grand Prix. We could not take the opportunities. I can’t be satisfied with the result. We didn’t push Holland to the limits. We were close but made a lot of individual mistakes.
Belgium captain Charlotte Leys: It was a disappointing game for us tonight, we didn’t get to our level, we have to think over that match. We have to focus on ourselves and to show a nice game.
