Blocking made the difference

The Dominican team celebrate victorious

Apeldoorn, Netherlands, July 9, 2017 – The blocking made the difference in the FIVB Volleyball World Grand Prix 2017 match between Thailand and the Dominican Republic, according to the opinions cast after the Caribbean team’s 3-1 victory.

Bethania de la Cruz, captain of Dominican Republic: “We played very well today. After the matches against two strong teams, we managed to focus well on the match against Thailand. They play really fast and have a lot of combinations, but we did well at blocking today. We are really grateful we were able to control today’s game.”

Danai Sriwacharamaytakul, coach of Thailand: “The Dominican Republic made the difference today with good blocking. On top of that, they were able to spike over our blocks. Still, we expected to win a set, because our reception was very good.”
