Nanjing, China, August 3, 2017 – Karch Kiraly was disappointed with the loss to Italy, but he put a positive twist on the challenging schedule that the 2017 FIVB Volleyball World Grand Prix has given to his team.
USA coach Karch Kiraly: Italy played a very good match. They have been a very strong team after they started with a couple of losses. I am disappointed to lose this match because this means we are done with the tournament. We had a challenging schedule, which was the best opportunity to learn.
USA captain Carli Lloyd: We had a hard match. Congratulations to Italy. They are a great volleyball team. It was a great tournament and we learned a lot and we grew a lot as a team. We started slower than normal and did not pick up on our speed today.
