Important win for Italy en route to Finals

The two captains before the start of the match

Bangkok, Thailand, July 21, 2017 – Both sides agreed that Turkey played better against Italy in Bangkok than they did in Macau last week. However, the Italians managed to win again and this was very important for their quest to qualify for the FIVB Volleyball World Grand Prix 2017 Finals.

Davide Mazzanti, coach of Italy: "It was a great match! We did better in covering, especially in the third and the fourth sets. Turkey's serves were really good today and we had to rush our game. This is a really important game for us on the way to the Finals."

Cristina Chirichella, captain of Italy: "Turkey played much better than the last match. But we did not give up. It was a great game!"

Giovanni Guidetti, coach of Turkey: "Congratulations to Italy! They deserved to win because they wanted it more than we did. Of course, we performed better than last week, but we could not cover it well. We are looking forward to the next match against Thailand."

Fatma Yildirim, captain of Turkey: "I think today we played better than we did in our last game in Macau. We improved our play and we had close scores in every set. In the fourth set, we got a chance, but we could not make it. Tomorrow we will play against Thailand and, of course, it is going to be a very tough game. We will have to get ready for the match against them."
