Tandara boosts Brazil’s semifinal win over Serbia

 

Tandara led Brazil to a 3-1 semifinal win over Serbia in the 2017 FIVB Volleyball World Grand Prix Finals

Nanjing, China, August 5, 2017 – Tandara Caixeta boosted the Brazilian offence with 24 points to make another trip to the FIVB Volleyball World Grand Prix Finals, following their 3-1 (20-25, 25-23, 25-14, 25-23) semifinal win over Serbia at the Nanjing Olympic Sports Centre on Saturday.

World Grand Prix - Scores

Tandara made 23 points from the attack line and added a block to enhance the team’s winning campaign. Drussyla Costa and Natalia Pereira gave Tandara added 11 and 10 points, respectively. Tijana Boskovic also had a solid performance for Serbia with 32 points, but the Brazilian defence managed to neutralise the other Serbian hitters.

World Grand Prix – Match Statistics by Teams

The victory gave Brazil the opportunity to defend their title in the World Grand Prix. They have previously won the World Grand Prix 11 times and have been runners-up for five times.

Brazilian attackers struggled, while Boskovic had a productive start as she scored nine of Serbia’s 17 attacks and added two blocks and two aces in their opening set win at 25-20. Brazil managed to contain the other Serbian hitters and retaliated with two set victories at 25-23 and 25-14. Tandara helped Brazil elude the late run of Serbia in the fourth set and conclude the match at 25-23.
